How to find your Model or Serial Number
Before any repairs can be done, the first thing we need is a model number. Apple* Laptop and Desktop parts are very similar to car parts as they only work for a very specific range of models. Making sure you have the right model number will speed up the process of having your Apple* device Fixed.
DON’T GUESS!!! I will not order any parts until we are sure what kind of parts we need. Many MacBooks and iMacs look very similar on the outside and are VERY different on the inside. Model Numbers are the key to fast service!
If you can get me the Apple Serial Number, that is even better. Then I can see if your MacBook or iMac is still under Apple’s warranty and send you along to the right place to handle that.
“But what if my device will not turn on?” To quote the great Douglas Adams – DON’T PANIC! You can always look at the bottom of the device. (On iMacs it is normally under the foot)
Apple Computer Model Numbers
Status Warranty: This means that the unit may still be under Apple’s Warranty. More information about Apples AU Warranty
Status Out of Warranty: This means that you will have to pay for the cost of repairs unless Apple has issued a repair program for that model and issue.
Status Vintage: This means that the Apple store will not attempt to fix devices of this age and will ask you to take them to a 3rd party Repair Service. We just happen to know a guy!
